Residents frequently ask the Parish Council about various planning enforcement, highways, footpaths or nuisance issues and how best to deal with them.

Below you'll find links to the various authorities responsible for different issues in Albury. We encourage you to report problems directly to ensure they are dealt with promptly.

⚠️ Important Note for Estate Land and Hurtwood Control Land

Much of Albury village and surrounding areas sits on estate land or land managed by Hurtwood Control. For issues on these lands—particularly fly-tipping, abandoned vehicles, or unauthorised dumping—you should contact Hurtwood Control directly:

Hurtwood Control is responsible for managing these private lands and has the authority to deal with issues on their property.

Surrey County Council

Surrey County Council is responsible for most highways, roads, and infrastructure issues:

  • Potholes and road surface issues

  • Flooding and drainage
  • Trees and vegetation (on highways)
  • Public Rights of Way (footpaths, bridleways)
  • Traffic signals and signs
  • Gritting and winter maintenance

Guildford Borough Council handles planning, environmental health, and waste services:

  • Fly-tipping (on public land)
