There will be a meeting on Saturday 22nd March from 10.30am to noon in the Village Hall to give an update on the Parish Neighbourhood plan.

This will also be covered at the annual parish meeting which will be held Wednesday 30th April at 7.30pm - again in the Village Hall.

For reasons beyond our control the Parish Council meeting at 7.30pm on Monday 3rd February has had to be postponed. A new meeting will be scheduled as soon as is practical.

Unfortunately the next meeting of the full council has been cancelled. We hope to reschedule this, but a date has yet to be confirmed.

There is a significant amount of disruption coming from various level crossing closures on the railway line through the parish. Below is the relevant text of the email from network rail. They have set up a dedicated webpage at https://www.networkrail.co.uk/NorthDownsLine which will be regularly updated as the work progresses.

Dear Stakeholder, 

Upcoming engineering work between Guildford and Reigate, Saturday 1 to Sunday 16 February 2025

I am writing to remind you that between Saturday 1 and Sunday 16 February, Network Rail engineers will be carrying out a large programme of works on the North Downs line, between Guildford and Reigate.

These works include renewing the tracks over a bridge on the River Wey in Shalford, stabilising an embankment in Gomshall and renewing the signalling and level crossings along the line.

Level crossing works

At times we will need to close the level crossing we are upgrading to carry out the work, and signed diversions will be in place. During full road closures, pedestrians won’t have access to the crossings, but minibuses will be arranged to help any pedestrians around the closure. Half road closures close the crossings to single lane access with temporary traffic lights, and pedestrians can use the crossing.

At the River Wey Railway Bridge, we are carrying out track renewals, while on the remainder of the line, we are continuing with our re-signalling works which includes laying new cable, substantial heavy foundation works at Burrow and Brook Level Crossings as well as cutting stabilisation.
